FROG

FROG (Front Range Objectivist Group) consists of two separate discussion groups that meet monthly in members' homes. (Members generally live between Boulder and Colorado Springs.) In the meeting, one or more people lead a discussion on some aspect of Objectivism, usually using some Objectivist writing as background. Recent meetings have discussed essays from The Voice of Reason, Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology, and Philosophy: Who Needs It.

With about 20 active members, the original discussion group (1FROG) is presently closed to new members. A second discussion group (2FROG) was created in December of 2004; it is thriving.

FROG is dedicated to understanding and applying the principles of Objectivism, the philosophy originated by Ayn Rand. FROG members differ in the depth of their understanding of Objectivism, but all are committed to understanding and applying the principles of Objectivism in their own lives. As such, the principles of Objectivism serve as the implicit and explicit background of the discussions at FROG meetings. So members might debate the proper applications of property rights or discuss the fallacies of anarchism, but they do not debate whether government is necessary. Or they might debate the extent of animal consciousness, but not whether consciousness is a myth or whether animals have rights. Of course, many FROG members are happy to discuss and debate such topics with non-Objectivists — just not at FROG.

In essence, FROG welcomes people who agree with the main tenets of Objectivism and wish to study it further. FROG is not an appropriate forum for people unfamiliar with or opposed to its principles.
